Volleyball battle to 5 games with Blue Mountain

Last week was a challenging week for the Cardinals as they went up against the defending NWAC Champions, Blue Mountain Community College and the Community Colleges of Spokane, Sasquatch. Blue Mountain was sure a battle as we met up with them in their own gym. Last time the Cardinals played the Timberwolves we walked away with a 3-0 win. Knowing Blue Mountains reputation I was confident that they would come out swinging, and that’s what they did. Blue Mountain started out with the first win 32-30. “It was a great game. Back and forth the whole time. Each team battled but with a couple of stupid errors from us the Timberwolves took advantage and took the first game.” The Cardinals bounced back well and won the next two games. After many errors again, Blue Mountain took the fourth game which led us into a 5 game. “I was nervous about the five game, said Coach Stanley. We haven’t been in one of those games in a very long time and I was nervous if we had enough energy in the tank to outlast Blue Mountain.” The Cardinals took a quick lead right away which set the tone. The Timberwolves didn’t back down though and battled us to the end. Cardinals squeak by with a win 15-12 over the Timberwolves.

The Halloween game was a surprise as the Cardinals swept Community Colleges of Spokane in 3. After a long battle against Blue Mountain the day before the volleyball girls were ready to play the number 3 team in the region. “We came out aggressive and hungry, said Coach Stanley. I was happy to see us adjust to Spokane tendencies. Spokane is a good team and we didn’t let them get in once.” Cardinals are excited to finish the end of season with Wenatchee on Wednesday and our last home game against Treasure Valley on Friday.
