Women's Golf wins NWAC Title

The Cardinal Women’s Golf Team won the Northwest Athletic Conference Championship on Monday, which was held at the Walla Walla Country Club. The Cardinals were seven shots back heading in to the second round but were able to rally on the second day and win by two shots over second place Bellevue.  Freshman Nicole Miller continued her solid play and shot 75 the second day to tie for first individually. Miller unfortunately lost the first sudden death playoff hole with a bogey.  But it was Freshman Amalia Negrette who really made the difference the second day by having a breakout round of 77.  “I was so happy for her and it couldn’t have happened at a better time,” said coach Russell Grove.  “I’m so proud of the girls they worked really hard and came along way throughout the year.” The Cardinals look to build on the win during the 2016-2017 season coming up in the fall.

They will lose Miller who recently committed to a full scholarship with Western Washington which is currently ranked in the top 25 for Division II.
